Figure2-1 Main interfacee |
First of all, load an audio file to be cut, the default output range of the loaded file is the file time length. You can specify the output range rapidly by playback progress bar , or specify output range accurately by a setup dialog.
A. Specify output range rapidly by playback progress bar
When the mouse move on the playback progress bar, there will be a time position hint window displaying corresponding time to the file time position, as shown in figure 3-1.
![]() |
figure 3-1 Time position hint window |
At the time position where you want to set it to "Output start time" or "Output end time" , press down the mouse left button, a popup menu will be displayed as shown in figure 3-2.
![]() |
Figure 3-2 Popup menu to set output time range |
Now, you can set the "Output start time" or "Output end time" by selecting the menu item, the table below shows the meaning of each menu item.
Menu item | Meaning |
Set to start time | Set the time position to output start time. |
Set to end time | Set the time position to output end time. |
Reset start time | Set output start time to 00:00:00:000, ie, the first audio frame of the file. |
Reset end time | Set output end time to file time length, ie, the last frame of the file. |
Copy information | Copy the file's output information to a specified buffer, then you can paste it into a merger project. |
In figure 3-2, the up arrow means output start time, the down arrow means output end time. You can drag the arrow with mouse to set output range.
B. Specify output range accurately
The rapid method to specify output range is to convert the position ( in pixel units) on the progress bar to the time position of audio file, so, some time position can not be specified. To set output range accurately, you can click the button "Set range" , then set time range through a dialog as shown in figure 3-3, the dialog also has an apply button and two player buttons to provide convenience for adjusting output range and listening.

Amplitude scaling
Click the button "AMP Scaling" in figure 2-1, the software will first querying the maximum amplitude and it's position in file output range, then display a dialog as shown in figure 3-3-1, you can set the maximum value to a value you want, then click the button "Apply", the software will calculate the desired scaling value and scaling the amplitude of file when doing file output, so the output volume of file will change.
Amplitude scaling is important in merger output or mixing output, especially in mixing processing where you can produce different mixed sound effect by adjustting amplitude scaling factor of each file to be mixed.
It should be noted that when you have changed output range of a file, It's best to re-check the amplitude scaling to avoid the maximum amplitude exceeds normal range, the absolute amplitude value should be between 0 and 1.
